Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Sets New Record For Passenger Growth

Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport set a new record for commercial passenger travel in 2019 with 1,774,763 passengers.

That number represents a 15.86% increase over the previous year. In December alone, 171,189 passengers traveled through there.

The growth is likely due to new nonstop destinations, larger aircraft with more seats, and increased frequency for several routes.

The airport is working on several projects to accommodate the increase in passengers. Those include improvements to baggage handling systems, parking and TSA security screening areas.
