A flurry of legal cases this month has slowed plans for border fence projects in Arizona and across the rest of the southwest border.
The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals first allowed the Trump administration to proceed with its plans to use $3.6 billion in military funds to pay for border fence projects. Then the Sierra Club and the ACLU filed a new motion asking the 9th U.S. Circuit to restore yet another district court’s order to block those plans.
The plaintiffs asked the court to push the request through and decide within two weeks.
The Trump administration wants to add new fences and replace old ones along the Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge and the Barry Goldwater range.
