MEXICO CITY — Two people died in a school shooting in northern Mexico. The country is in shock, as these kind of incidents are uncommon in the neighboring nation.
An 11-year-old student in Torreón at the state of Coahuila shot and killed a teacher on Friday morning, leaving five students and one teacher wounded.
The shooter was carrying two guns and killed himself afterwards.
School shootings are rare in Mexico. The local government and police are investigating the crime.
The governor of Coahuila stated that the shooter was most likely influenced by a videogame called "Natural Selection."
Some media outlets have pointed out that the Torreón shooter was wearing a T-shirt and clothes similar to one worn by one of the shooters in the 1999 school shootings in Columbine, Colorado. Thirteen people were killed in that mass shooting.
