Tucson can now add its name to a growing list of cities that offer homebuying and selling via a completely online process.
Home valuation website Zillow launched its related company, Zillow Offers, in metro Phoenix in April 2018. Zillow Offers is an instant buying program that gives potential sellers quick cash on their homes and is often seen as a competitor to Opendoor and Chandler-based Offerpad.
Cortney Read is with Offerpad and said while all real estate valuations are becoming tech based, it still requires people to make sure property valuations are accurate.
"We absolutely use technology but that only gets us to about 90-95% of what the offer is, so if you put in a request and our algorithm will say this home is worth $200,000. You know, what do we think needs to be done to the house? Then, we'll adjust that offer," Read said.
Tucson is the 23rd market where Zillow Offers will operate. Zillow has also announced plans to bring Zillow Offers to Cincinnati, Jacksonville, Florida; and Oklahoma City in 2020.
