Macy’s To Close Tempe Facility; 843 Employees To Lose Jobs

In early February, Macy’s will shut down its credit and customer services center at 1345 S. 52nd St. in Tempe.

In a letter to the Arizona Department of Economic Security, Macy’s said 843 employees will be impacted with positions ranging from auditors and engineers to workers who specialize in fraud and customer service.

A Macy’s spokesperson told KJZZ operations in Tempe will move to company locations in Mason, Ohio, and Clearwater, Florida.

Without providing numbers, Macy’s said eligible employees will receive severance, and some will be able to transfer to seven local stores or the distribution center in Goodyear.

The company said it employs more than 2,300 people across the Valley.
