The Chandler Downtown Library

Chandler is looking for someone to run a cafe at the downtown library.

Free rent, utilities and trash collection are available the first year. What a vendor would pay the second year is open. Administrative Librarian Abigail Nersesian said they’re asking people to pitch their own financial terms as part of  the city’s request for proposals (RFP)

“This is the perfect opportunity for somebody who’s looking for maybe to expand their current business into a second location or maybe somebody who has a food truck or someone who does pop-up cafe type stuff, partners with other vendors in the Valley, to actually have a physical location,” she said.

Nersesian said Chandler wants the cafe to be a destination for downtown workers as well as a place where the library’s 800-900 daily visitors can grab drinks and snacks. The space comes with a commercial refrigerator, freezer and three-compartment sink along with some tables and chairs.

“We are open to different pitches within the RFP,” Nersesian said. “If somebody wanted to come in and possibly do some cosmetic work or bring in their own furniture, we are open to entertaining different ideas.”

The city will hold a pre-proposal conference and provide a tour of the current cafe space on Feb. 6, 2020, at 1 p.m.

Proposers must register via the  online vendor registration system and choose 'Vendor Registration and Management" to automatically receive notification of addenda to this solicitation or notice of other solicitation opportunities. The RFP closes on Feb. 28, 2020, at 3 p.m. local time.
