The governor’s executive budget proposal devotes a significant chunk to education, with more than $600 million in new K-12 funding. But is it enough?
Some public education advocates were not entirely satisfied.
In a statement, Expect More Arizona said the proposed investments are still not enough to close the achievement gap and meet goals set out in the Education Progress Meter.
Others noted Arizona remains 49th in the country in terms of average teacher pay and there are still a large number of teacher vacancies across the state.
