Writers at another Phoenix-based newspaper plan to form a union.
Phoenix New Times has announced a union drive. The alternative weekly and its counterpart in Miami revealed their plans on Tuesday, following the same move made at the Arizona Republic and newspapers across the country.
SO proud to be part of this union drive with my colleagues @phoenixnewtimes and @MiamiNewTimes!

I love the work that we do, and I want to protect our publications so we can keep telling it like it is, for years and years to come. https://t.co/xv0KmWwGR1
New Times staff writer Elizabeth Whitman, who is also a member of the organizing committee, joined The Show to talk about why she and her colleagues decided forming a union is the way to go.
The Show also reached out to Voice Media Group. Andy Van De Voorde, executive associate editor, said in a statement: “We've just received a letter from the organizing committee and are reviewing the circumstances and the request. Beyond that, we have no further comment.”
