Arizona is failing in some key areas related to keeping residents from smoking, according to the American Lung Association’s annual State of Tobacco Control report released Wednesday.
The state gets F’s in three categories: funding for state tobacco prevention programs, the level of state tobacco taxes and having a minimum age of 21 for the sale of tobacco products. That last one, though, was recently addressed by Congress.
Arizona does get an A for the strength of its smoke-free workplace laws, and a C in coverage and access to services to quit tobacco.
JoAnna Strother, senior director for Advocacy for the American Lung Association, joined The Show talk through the report.
