Late last year, there were four sexual assaults that took place at ASU that did not lead to alerts from the university’s police department.

A group called “Sun Devils Against Sexual Assault” expressed concern about that, but the department defended its decision, saying the incidents did not meet all of the requirements for sending out an alert under the Clery Act.

Two of the incidents were not reported to police for several weeks, another victim declined to talk to detectives, and in the fourth case, investigators determined the victim was a specific target, and did not believe anyone else was in danger.

Joining The Show to talk through when an alert is and is not issued is ASU Police Chief Michael Thompson.
