'American Underdog': Movie About Kurt Warner's Story Announced

Former Arizona Cardinal quarterback Kurt Warner is getting a biopic called “American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story” that is set to hit theaters this December.

His famous rag-to-riches story is one for the ages.

He started by bagging groceries in Iowa. He was overlooked by Division 1 colleges and played a stint in the NFL’s European league. He eventually made his way onto the St. Louis Rams where he lit up and became one of the league’s best quarterbacks.

The movie is going to be based on Warner’s 2001 memoir “All Things Possible: My Story of Faith, Football and the First Miracle Season.”

Christian filmmakers Jon and Andrew Erwin, and “Friday Night Lights” screenwriter David Aaron Cohen are adapting the player’s life story for the big screen.

Warner played in the NFL for 12 years including five seasons with the Cardinals. In 2009, he led the team to their only Super Bowl appearance, and in 2017, he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
