Boas: 'Remain In Mexico' Policy Raises Human Rights Concerns

Phil Boas
Arizona Republic

The Show regularly checks in with the Editorial Board of the Arizona Republic to talk about the big issues facing the state and the region — featured in the newspaper’s Viewpoints section.

The so-called "Remain in Mexico" program was implemented just over a year ago following an agreement between the United States and Mexico. It returns asylum seekers to border towns and cities in Mexico, as they await their hearings. Critics have said it has exposed migrants to human rights abuses.

One of those critics is Sean Carroll of the Kino Border Initiative, and his opinion piece was published in the Republic’s Viewpoints section over the weekend.

The Show spoke with Phil Boas, the Republic's editorial page director, about Carroll’s column.
