The controversy over the construction on the border wall has been making headlines for years as President Trump attempts to fulfill his most prominent campaign promise. But now, outrage over where it is being built is peaking for some.
News broke late last week that the Trump administration is blasting through a national monument in pursuit of new wall construction. Crews are blasting through Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument — a UNESCO International Biosphere Reserve and home to sacred burial sites to the Tohono O’odham people.
Arizona Congressman Raul Grijalva's district includes the Tohono O’odham reservation, and he is the chair of the Natural Resources Committee in the House of Representatives. The Show spoke with him about the damage, which he calls “irreparable.”
