For more than five decades — even as the focus of missions has changed — space exploration by the U.S. has taken on a much higher priority than looking more closely at what’s on our own planet — oceans, in particular.
One person who has passion and experience for both is bioengineer and research diver Kakani Katija. She began in aerospace — and still has hopes of becoming a NASA astronaut — and has since learned about the impact jellyfish can have on technology.
She is in the Phoenix area Wednesday night at the Mesa Arts Center as part of the National Geographic Live! Series. She joined The Show to share some examples of how jellyfish are affecting or can affect our lives.
