An intense fight has been going on in Arizona for a number of years, as many on the conservative side of the aisle want to see an expansion of ESAs — better known as vouchers — while a majority of the state’s voters rejected the effort at the polls in November 2018.
But some advocates believe that’s just part of the effort to move the nation away from public schools and hurt the current system.
One of those people is Diane Ravitch, former assistant secretary of education in the George H.W. Bush administration.
She argues in her new book "Slaying Goliath: The Passionate Resistance to Privatization and the Fight to Save America’s Public Schools" that certain billionaires are behind the push against the traditional K-12 education system.
