Tucson Mayor Asks For Confederate Flags To Be Removed From Rodeo Parade

Tucson Mayor Regina Romero has asked for Confederate flags to be removed from the city’s annual rodeo parade after receiving multiple complaints.

She said the flags do not belong in the Tucson community.

City Councilwoman Lane Santa Cruz said the parade should not be funded while the flag is displayed, but confederate supporters argue the flags have been flown at the parade for years.

Romero said the community should recognize its history by including flags from the Tohono O’odham and Pascua Yaqui tribes instead.
