It’s no surprise that Arizona is a popular destination for many retirees.
Now, a new survey by the website Retirement Living has ranked Arizona as one of the best places to retire. In fact, the state earned the number 10 spot on the list.
Jeff Smith is with Retirement Living. He says some 1,400 people across the country were surveyed, in addition to using Census data.
"So the factors that we considered were population over 65 median income, percentage of pop in poverty, average home price and cost of senior care," he said.
Smith says they also obtained feedback from several retirees in Arizona. They said the state’s climate, low taxes and health care options contributed to their decision to retire here.
AARP previously reported data from Wallet Hub, which also ranked Arizona in the top 10 for best states to retire.
