Two years ago, Gov. Doug Ducey convened a special legislative session to address the opioid epidemic in Arizona. The Arizona Opioid Epidemic Act allocated millions for outreach and treatment and took other steps intended to mitigate the growing problem.
But Andrew Nicla with the Arizona Capitol Times has reported that more Arizonans are dying from opioid related overdoses today.
He joined The Show us now to talk more about the numbers and began by explaining where we were as a state when lawmakers passed this legislation.
