Many businesses are being affected by the coronavirus and some — like those in the beauty industry — face unique challenges.
The skincare and makeup company, Glossier, had planned to open a store in Phoenix this Wednesday. But CEO Emily Weiss delayed the opening.
She also closed Glossier’s permanent and temporary locations in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and London for at least two weeks. In a blog post, Weiss wrote, “We’re not alarmists, we’re realists. While this may not be the right decision for every company, it’s the one where we feel we can make an impact.”
Another beauty retailer, Sephora, is keeping its stores open but suspending all in-store services like makeovers until further notice. Sephora has more than a dozen locations across the Valley.
In a statement shared with customers and employees, Sephora said: “Hygiene standards for our people, store environment, products, and tools are and will always be a top priority.”
