Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and state Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman announced Sunday that all schools in Arizona will be closed at least until March 27 amid concerns about the coronavirus outbreak.
The following schools and districts have set up meal services for students during the closure. Follow the links for additional details. Check back for updates.
Academia del Pueblo School:Academia del Pueblo School is offering free meals to anyone under the age of 18 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays.
Alhambra Elementary School District: Starting March 16, the district will begin providing meals-to-go for children ages 0 to 18. Kids will receive two pre-packaged meals. See a map of locations and times.
Balsz School District:Free grab-and-go breakfast and lunch starting March 17. Breakfast served 7-8:30 a.m. Lunch: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Cartwright School District: Starting March 17, the district will distribute food at drive-through locations beginning at 9 a.m. to all families who need it, not just students
Deer Valley Unified School District:Breakfast and lunch will be available for drive through or pick up at several schools sites and locations from March 23-27 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Dysart Unified School District:Beginning March 23, Dysart Unified will be providing meals to community members 18 and younger through April 3. Grab-and-go breakfast and lunch will be provided Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Gilbert Public Schools: Pick-up meals will be available for children beginning March 17.
Glendale Elementary School District: From March 18-27, the Glendale Elementary School District will be utilizing a curbside meal service for our students. Breakfast and lunch is available for all children between the ages of 1 and 18 between 9-11 a.m.
Globe Unified School District: Globe Unified will be delivering free school lunches at select locations for children aged 0-18 years during the school closure, Monday through Thursday, March 17-26.
Higley Unified School District: Free meal service begins on Monday, March 23. Any individual age 18 and younger may pick up both breakfast and a sack lunch from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday, in a drive-thru style service at all Higley schools.
Kyrene School District: Kyrene will be providing bagged meals for any child 18 years old and under beginning Tuesday, March 17, at various pick-up locations. Each bag will include a cold breakfast and lunch. More details: 480-541-1660, [email protected].
Lake Havasu Unified School District:Grab-and-go meals will be provided to children 18 years and younger Monday through Friday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. during the school closures. Drive-through service begins Monday, March 23 .
Laveen School District:Breakfast and lunch will be available to all children between the ages of 1 and 18 on a grab-and-go basis. Families may stop by any of the district's schools (except Vista) between 7:30 and 9:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch. Service may be expanded to off-site locations in the coming days.
Mesa Public Schools: All children 18 and under are eligible to pick up a free lunch at all district elementary schools on March 16-17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Information is coming soon about breakfast and lunch options March 18 and beyond.
Pendergast Elementary School District: All students 18 years old and younger can get breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 10 a.m. to noon.
Peoria Unified School District: Peoria Unified School District will continue free breakfast and lunch service to children through the state’s mandated school closures. Meals will be available for curbside pick-up from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, March 23.
Phoenix Union High School District:All Phoenix Union school cafeterias will open from 8 to 9 a.m., and 11 a.m. to noon to serve food to any individual 18 years old or younger.
Roosevelt School District: Serving grab-and-go meals for breakfast and lunch starting March 16. Meals available Monday through Friday during the school closures between 8:30 a.m.–9 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.-12 p.m. for lunch. Meals are available to students and children under the age of 18.
Santa Cruz Valley Unified School District: Parents may choose to park and pick up or drive through for curbside delivery of meals Monday through Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.. Meals are free for children 18 and younger.
Scottsdale Unified School District: The Scottsdale Unified School District Nutrition Services Department will provide an opportunity for families to drive through or walk up at several school sites to pick up meals for the children in their family between the ages of 1 and 18. Children do not need to be an enrolled student or approved for the free and reduced meal program in order to receive meals. All meals will be available for pick up between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Tempe Elementary School District: The district is providing a free grab-and-go meal pantry in order for student meals to be picked up and taken home while schools are closed. Drive-through and walk-up service will be available at nine school locations. Meals are for any student under the age of 18, regardless of what school district they attend.
Tolleson Elementary School District:Free breakfast for anyone under 18 will be available in the front of each school from 8 to 9 a.m. and free lunch from 11 a.m. to noon.
Washington Elementary School District: Starting March 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon, all children up to 18 years old can pick up a free lunch and a sack breakfast for the following day at various schools in the district.
Wilson School District: Starting March 16, grab-and-go breakfasts and lunches available at Wilson Primary School. Any student in the community age 18 or below may grab a meal from 7-8:30 a.m. for breakfast and 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for lunch.
