Grand Canyon Changing Operations Amid Coronavirus

Grand Canyon National Park is closing restaurants starting Thursday. The park says it wants to follow federal guidance and encourage social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Some dining locations still may serve takeout, however.

Hiking trails and campgrounds will stay open, provided they can stick to the latest health recommendations.

The Grand Canyon has stopped all shuttle bus service on the South Rim and is no longer collecting entrance fees. Visitor centers and the park store are also closed for the time being.

Camping isn’t recommended at Bright Angel Campground. A water pipeline leak there means there’s no running water to wash hands.
