Tempe Mayor Orders Closure Of Bars, In-Restaurant Dining Over Coronavirus Concerns

Tempe has joined a growing number of cities that are closing their bars and in-restaurant dining, due to concerns about the coronavirus. Mayor Mark Mitchell  issued a proclamation Thursday morning.

In a written statement,  Mitchell ordered bars and restaurants to close their doors by 8 p.m. Thursday, but curbside pickup and delivery services are still allowed.

The proclamation also affects entertainment venues like bowling alleys and movie theaters. Mitchell ordered gyms and fitness centers to shut down even earlier, closing to the public at 1 p.m.

The mayors of Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff have also announced citywide closures.
