After Weeks Of Rain, Tonto Creek Still Flooded

After a few weeks of wet weather, the Tonto Basin is saturated with water, and Tonto Creek could remain flooded until the end of this weekend.

National Weather Service meteorologist James Sawtelle says that, thanks to storm runoff, the creek likely won’t be crossable.

"We currently have the flood warning in effect all the way until Sunday," Sawtelle said. "The forecast is for the water level to slowly decline over the next several days, and it looks like by Sunday evening it will fall below the action stage."

Sawtelle says this weekend should bring fair weather, but another winter storm could hit the area next week.
