Beer Distributor Contributing To Fund For Laid Off Bar And Restaurant Employees

Arizona’s largest beer distributor has partnered with ALBA — the Arizona Licensed Beverage Association — to create a fund to support laid-off bar and restaurant employees.

ALBA president Dave Delos says Crescent Crown Distributing will donate 15 cents for every case of beer sold in retail stores until April 30.

“Now that doesn’t sound like a lot, but over that period of time they’ll sell close to 2 million cases," Delos said. "It could equate to a minimum of $50,000, and Crescent Crown has made us the stewards of that money to pass on to, not necessarily our members as business owners, but their employees.”

ALBA represents close to 12,000 bar and restaurant employees who have been furloughed or laid off in recent weeks. Crescent Crown sells about 15 million cases annually in Arizona.

“ALBA member businesses purchase a lot of product from them during boom times, and this gesture demonstrates their commitment to their customers," Delos said. "They know we know our members throughout Arizona, so we can work with them to assist employees in financial need.”
