A federal judge in Los Angeles is giving the Trump administration one week to justify keeping some 7,000 immigrant children in detention facilities across the U.S. In the ruling, the judge wrote that kids in detention are vulnerable to COVID-19 and related trauma.
Another federal judge, this one in Washington, D.C., asked for an explanation for keeping immigrant parents detained as well. The White House and Justice Department have not responded yet.
