The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to rule by the end of its current term on the constitutionality of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA.
The Trump Administration in 2017 moved to phase out the Obama-era program, but lower courts stopped that plan. And, late last month, a filing to the high court said ending DACA during the current national emergency would be “catastrophic,” specifically referencing the roughly 27,000 DACA recipients who are working in the health care field.
The Show discussed this with Reyna Montoya, Founder and CEO of Aliento, a Valley-based undocumented and youth-led community organization. He mentioned the kinds of preparations DACA recipients had been making in case the Supreme Court rules the program is unconstitutional.
