Secretary Of State Supports E-Signatures To Other Officials' Chagrin

On April 6, Secretary of State Katie Hobbs has said she won’t oppose citizens’ initiatives collecting signatures online, as their typical operations have been interrupted by the coronavirus.

The state’s E-Qual system already allows political candidates to do so, and now initiative campaigns still looking for signatures to qualify for the November ballot are asking the courts to open E-Qual up to them as well — at least for this election cycle.

However, Hobbs’ stance to allow the change has put her at odds with other elected officials.

The Show spoke to Howie Fischer of Capitol Media Services about the secretary of state's decision and the reaction it hasgarnered.
