With more than 3,000 cases of COVID-19 reported in Arizona, health care workers have their hands full. But some much-needed funding and equipment is making its way into the state.
ARizona Department of Health Services Director Dr. Cara Christ said Arizona has received 15 new testing machines.
“These machines have the ability to detect whether a patient has COVID-19 in as little as 15 minutes," Christ said. "We received an additional $4.5 million from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention to help our public health system respond to COVID-19.”
She added that DHS will start providing information about the number of hospital beds and ICU beds available, as well as how many beds are being used for COVID-19 treatment.
There were roughly 16,000 hospital beds in Arizona, and roughly 1,500 ICU beds as of earlier this week. The site will also include more detailed information on patient demographics.
