Late last month, Sapphire of Tucson, a long-term care facility, confirmed that more than two dozen residents plus three employees tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, more infections have been confirmed.
Despite the increase in infections of COVID-19, Sapphire of Tucson is not releasing daily updates on the total number.

"The reason for that is a little complicated," said Jeanine L’Ecuyer, the facility’s spokesperson. "But basically, when somebody is discharged home, for example, sometimes a family decides to take a resident home, and that resident recovers from COVID-19 Sapphire would not necessarily get that message back. So they would not necessarily know the outcome of that case."
L’Ecuyer says Sapphire of Tucson is isolating anyone who tests positive, as well as anyone who is showing symptoms but awaiting test results.
The facility also is implementing infection control measures that, she says, exceed the standards set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and state and county health departments.
