Some Mesa Programs Could Stay Closed Until October

As Arizona, other states and the country start to think about when to ease restrictions put in place to try to slow the spread of COVID-19, Mesa officials say some of that city’s amenities may stay closed into the fall. City Manager Chris Brady says three departments: Arts and Culture, Library Services and Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities could stay shuttered until October 1st.

A presentation put together by city staff shows keeping them closed would cost the city money, but would actually save Mesa more money than it’d lose.

With The Show to talk more about this is Mesa Mayor John Giles. He started by sharing his opinion on the city manager’s suggestion that at least a few departments should stay closed until the fall.
