Anonymous Comments Could Mean Better Candidates For Arizona's Independent Redistricting Commission

The power of Arizona’s Independent Redistricting Commission will be on full display next year, after Census figures are released. And we’ll know whether the state will have a tenth congressional seat.

The application process to be on the IRC is an extensive and intense one, and the state’s Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Brutinel introduced some changes that would allow people commenting on IRC applicants to keep those comments anonymous — whether they were in support or opposition.

Concerns have been expressed about what that could mean going forward, but the next guest on The Show says the modification may make sense and reinforce the foundation of the IRC. He is Justin Levitt, Associate Dean for Research Law at Loyola University in Los Angeles, and he specializes in election law.
