Protestors are expected to march on the Arizona Capitol Sunday against the state’s social distancing rules that they say needlessly harm the economy.
But public health experts, including the former state health director Will Humble, say they’re exposing themselves to a needless risk and endangering public health.
"If there’s a hundred people or 200 people that get together, they’re putting themselves at risk and their families at risk...and their communities at risk," he said. "It’s not a good idea. Everyone’s entitled to express their opinion. I urge them to express their opinion in a way that doesn’t endanger public health."
Protesters would be violating the governor’s stay-at-home order, which discourages large gatherings, but doesn’t have any enforcement provisions.
