Maricopa County To Ask Homeless People To Relocate Due To Coronavirus

Maricopa County will begin asking homeless people living in tents near the state capitol to relocate to two nearby lots. The county-owned parcels will provide space for social distancing as well as dedicated bathrooms, hand-washing stations and dumpsters for trash.

The move comes as the county is securing housing for homeless people who are either at high risk for COVID-19 or who test positive or display symptoms.

As the Maricopa County Director of Human Services, Bruce Liggett is in charge of the effort to help the most vulnerable. The Show spoke with him about how this decision will affect the area's homeless population.
