Recent fundraising numbers show Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Mark Kelly continuing to bring in money that analysts say is reminiscent of presidential campaigns. Though her financial figures aren’t as strong as Kelly’s, Sen. Martha McSally has still raised millions. At the state level, a number of candidates are bringing in healthy sums into six figures.
But what about raising money for a political campaign while people are suffering from COVID-19 and businesses are closing?
Valley political fundraiser Tysen Schlink has some strong opinions about that. A recent tweet of his goes this way:
If you are a candidate for public office and you are urgently fundraising right now, just stop. Everyone is working with less money. You won’t get bad press because there’s no oxygen and the median numbers for “good quarter” are not the same today as last cycle.
