Tucson Mayor Wanted Tougher Restrictions In Governor's COVID-19 Lockdown Extension

Tucson’s mayor said she backs Gov. Doug Ducey’s decision to extend his stay-at-home order through May 15. But she says she wanted more severe restrictions. 

Among the measures Regina Romero said she wanted to see put in place: mask requirements.

"Either mandatory face coverings or the Arizona Health Department and the Pima County Health Department to stress how important using face coverings is," she said.

She said churches within the city that insist on allowing large gatherings could be cited by Tucson police for violating her emergency proclamation forbidding them.
