Restaurants could reopen for dine-in service later this month, but that doesn’t mean the experience will be normal. Workers may wear masks and gloves and there will probably be a lot of empty tables.
The Arizona Restaurant Association is working on creating guidelines for eating out, during the pandemic. The organization’s president, Steve Chucri said customers likely won’t even find ketchup, salt or sugar packets on the table.
"If you want ketchup, maybe they'll bring it in a bottle that's been sanitized or they'll bring it in packet form," he said. "In fine-dining restaurants they put it in a dish. Some people will check temperatures. Other people are going to ask them to sign off that they haven't been exposed to COVID."
Some businesses are considering using disposable menus that are tossed after each use. Customers will pay at the table more often, rather than handing their cards to a server.
