Arizona Voices Of COVID-19: Helping Hands

The Show is hearing from Arizonans affected in different ways by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this series, Arizona Voices Of COVID-19, we’ve heard from health care workers on the frontlines of this pandemic as well as some of the hundreds of thousands of Arizonans who now find themselves unemployed.

However, there are those who are still working — the so-called essential workers who are still on the job as the world around them has changed.

The Show looked at services being provided by volunteers.

While some folks who are particularly susceptible to the virus don’t feel comfortable going out for groceries or prescriptions, those who can are offering their time to ensure the vulnerable do not go without.

Paulette Miller was among many stuck at home with limited options, so her son created a nonprofit called  Helping Hands to connect her — and others like her — with someone who could help, like Evie Carpenter.
