COVID-19 Migration Policy Changes Leave Thousands Of Asylum Seekers In Limbo

The United States has made significant changes to migration policies amid the COVID-19 pandemic, essentially bringing the asylum system to a standstill.

Since March, the Trump administration has closed the U.S.-Mexico border to nonessential travel, implemented health protocols to swiftly deport migrants at the border and delayed court hearings for asylum seekers waiting in Mexico.

The Show explored what these policies mean for asylum seekers waiting at the border.
