Primary Care Doctors Are Reaching Out As More Patients Stay Home

On The Show's May 6 episode,  a doctor at Banner University Medical Center discussed delaying some transplants for patients who don’t need to be seen right away and avoiding delays for anyone who can’t wait.

The also Show turned to Dr. Kevin Lopez, a family medicine physician and the ambulatory medical director of Valleywise Health’s Federally Qualified Health Centers. The centers treat many uninsured patients as well as those on the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System and with commercial insurance.

According to Lopez, they’re doing a lot of the things most doctor’s offices are doing right now — triaging patients based on who needs to be seen in person and who can be seen virtually. They’re also really trying to make sure things aren’t missed.
