Arizona retailers, along with barbershops and salons, are able to welcome customers back inside their shops starting May 8 provided they implement safety protocols including employees and customers wearing masks, social distancing and extra sanitation measures.
Retailers who had been deemed non-essential and thus closed earlier were allowed to reopen for curbside pickup on May 4. On May 11, Arizona restaurants will be allowed to start offering dine-in service again.
Among the big questions with this reopening of the state’s economy is how consumers will feel about going into stores and restaurants.
The Show spoke with Sabrina Helm, an associate professor of retailing and consumer sciences at the University of Arizona, to get a sense for how customers will react.
