Maricopa County Animal Care and Control is going to have a new director soon — as Mary Martin, who’s been running the agency since late 2016, has left for a position in Utah.
Martin was hired at a time when the agency was struggling with allegations against its previous director. Things seemed to be going well for the first part of Martin’s tenure, but that dramatically changed in recent months.
Jessica Boehm of the Arizona Republic covers Maricopa County government and wrote about Martin and the county’s animal care and control. The Show spoke with her to hear some of the concerns people expressed about Martin.
