Arizona Voices Of COVID-19: Beatrice Enriquez

Now, let’s turn to our series Voices of COVID-19. Over the last three weeks, we’ve brought you the voices of Arizonans who have lost their jobs, others whose work has been deemed essential and health care workers fighting to keep the pandemic at bay.

The final installment of this series is with a key group of people: Those who are most vulnerable to the virus.

We begin with Beatrice Enriquez, who has been fighting cancer for nearly three years.

She initially had breast cancer and was actually deemed cancer-free for about five months. But then, the cancer metastasized, spreading to other parts of her body and forcing her to start treatment all over again.

She travels from her home in New Mexico to Arizona to get the help she needs from the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, and the arrival of COVID-19 has made the journey all the more risky.
