Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Put In Place To Reduce Arizona Wildfire Hazard

As Arizona heads into the summer months, drier conditions lead to an increase in wildfire activity. Stage 2 fire restrictions will be put in place to reduce the hazard.

Restrictions will include smoking outside of permitted areas, operating flammable equipment, using firearms, fireworks and other incendiary devices, and building fires with charcoal, coal or a wood stove.

There are a few minor variations depending on if the land is public or state-owned, and the restrictions will be put in place starting Tuesday.

The Arizona Bureau of Land Management says following the rules will reduce exposure to injury, smoke and disease.

Those in violation could face fines, citations, jail time or damage repayment.
