Zoom To Open Research And Development Facility In Phoenix

The video communications company Zoom announced this week that it will open a new research and development center in Phoenix.

Zoom’s video chat software has seen an increase in use this year because of the coronavirus pandemic as hundreds of school systems and business branches adopted it as a virtual meeting tool.

As a result, the company will open facilities in Phoenix and Pittsburgh and is looking to hire up to 500 software engineers over the next few years.

In a statement, CEO Eric Yuan cited Arizona’s diversity of talent and level of education as key factors in Zoom’s decision to expand into the Valley.

The company is looking for space to build near ASU and is currently working with the Greater Phoenix Economic Council to make a final decision.
