Professional sports organizations remain in a holding pattern right now, as next steps are pondered in the midst of the pandemic.

The WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury would be in the early stages of their season without the impact of COVID-19.

Recently, Mercury star Diana Taurasi took part in an Instagram conversation with her wife, former Mercury player Penny Taylor, along with WNBA standout Sue Bird and soccer superstar Megan Rapinoe.

Among the comments that drew attention were Taurasi’s about the need for more women to own teams. There are only a handful at this point — with most of those in the NFL.

The Show spoke with Victoria Jackson, sports historian at Arizona State University, to get her perspective on Taurasi’s comments and what needs to change for there to be more female owners.
