Recreate Responsibly This Memorial Day, Arizona State Parks Says

Hiking and camping spots throughout Arizona are preparing for a busy Memorial Day weekend since many other vacation possibilities are still off-limits.

Arizona State Parks and Trails is limiting visitor capacity at some sites, so Michelle Thompson, Arizona State Parks and Trails spokesperson, recommends getting to the trailhead early.

“We are seeing some of the more popular parks filling up really early on weekends and it has been that way for the past several weeks," Thompson said.

Thompson said parks are asking visitors to recreate responsibly. That means stay home if you’re sick, maintain distance between yourself and other hikers or campers, and follow park guidelines.

Many outdoor recreation spots are now open, but closures and restrictions vary across Arizona’s national parks, national forests, BLM, and state park sites, so check for agency updates before heading out.
