Grand Canyon National Park Relaxes Some Restrictions For Memorial Day Weekend

Grand Canyon National Park is opening more facilities on the South Rim to visitors for the holiday weekend.

Visitors can enter the park between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m. — and stay until sunset, if they wish. As park spokesperson Lily Daniels explains, the hotels and visitor centers will be closed, but there will be some amenities available.

"There will be day hiking on the Inner Canyon trail, and there will be limited food and beverage services at Market Plaza, Bright Angel Bicycle, the El Tovar Patio, and in the vicinity of the hotel, and parking at Mather Point," Daniels said. "It should be able to accommodate more people coming in for the weekend."

Visitors are urged to wear face masks and limit their group sizes to fewer than 10.
