Pandemic Changing How University Of Arizona Research Projects Happen

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed a lot about how universities have had to operate. In many cases, that includes the research projects that were underway in a number of subject areas. However, one researcher said that for the most part, those projects have continued, albeit under different conditions.

Betsy Cantwell is the senior vice president for Research and Innovation at the University of Arizona. She says every research program at the university created a continuity of operations plan and that those that can work remotely are generally doing so. For those projects that require researchers to be in a physical lab, they’re doing so using Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

The Show spoke with Cantwell and asked if she has a sense of how many in-person projects are happening at UA right now.
