Inspector General Audits Company Building Border Wall In Arizona

While much of the country is focused on the government's efforts to combat COVID-19, many governmental operations are continuing, including the construction of a wall on the southern border.

A contract was recently awarded by the Army Corps of Engineers to a North Dakota company with a presence in the Southwest. Fisher Sand & Gravel has offices in Tempe and received a $1.28 billion contract to construct a 42-mile segment of wall running from Nogales to the edge of the Tohono O'odham Nation.

Tommy Fisher, head of the company, has earned wall building contracts in the past that are under scrutiny by federal inspectors.

Curt Prendergast covers immigration at the southern border for the Arizona Daily Star and joined The Show to talk about his coverage of Fisher Sand and Gravel's contract.
