A new USA Today/Ipsos survey released last week finds 20% of teachers nationally are unlikely to return to classrooms when they reopen.

Marisol Garcia with the Arizona Education Association said she expects that trend to be mirrored in the state because of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Most educators are parents and so there’s comes a question of what could potentially happen with my child’s school versus my school and how I’m going to balance that,” she said.

Too many teachers are finding the challenges of an altered instructional landscape too challenging according to Garcia.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Kathy Hoffman is expected to issue educational guidance for the upcoming school year Monday.
